Cuatrecasas represents CGE in its business division

Cuatrecasas, through its team in Santiago de Chile, has represented Compañía General de Electricidad (CGE), the main electricity distributor in Chile, in the structuring, development and execution of its corporate split-up process.

This transaction was valued at approximately $340 MM U.S. dollars.

As a result of the process, CGE Transmisión was formed and subsequently listed on the stock exchange and, consequently, CGE will be able to continue operating its main line of business: electricity distribution on an exclusive basis.

In this way, CGE is able to adapt to the recent regulatory changes that established that this type of company must have an exclusive line of business in order to carry out its distribution activity. The new company will focus on the power transmission business and other non-distribution services.

The advice involved the registration of CGE Transmisión S.A. in the Securities Registry of the Financial Market Commission, thus allowing its shares to be publicly offered and listed on the Santiago Stock Exchange.
