Ina Drago and Iván Blume

Cuatrecasas welcomes Ina Drago and Iván Blume as partners

Cuatrecasas has announced the incorporation of Ina María Drago (pictured left) and Iván Blume (pictured right) as new partners, who will strengthen the firm’s Natural Resources and Labour areas, respectively, in its Lima office.

Oscar Trelles, Cuatrecasas’ managing partner in Peru, highlights: “We are very optimistic about the trajectory of the mining sector in Peru in the coming years, thanks to the boost that electromobility is giving to copper, so the incorporation of Ina will allow us to meet the new wave of investment that is expected. Likewise, thanks to Iván’s arrival, we will strengthen our range of services in the complex Peruvian labour market, which every year generates new requirements for formal companies.”

“The arrival of Ina and Iván is a real boost to our Lima office and to our activity in the region. Ina will allow us to have a lawyer of reference in a practice as important as Mining and Natural Resources, strategic in several of our geographies. With Iván we guarantee the depth and sophistication of the Labour practice in Lima, growing our number of partners and local capacity. These new hires ratify Cuatrecasas’ commitment to its project in Latin America and confirm our commitment to continue positioning our regional offices as a benchmark in each jurisdiction,” adds Antonio Baena, head of Cuatrecasas’ International Practice.

Ina has an outstanding track record focused on advising companies engaged in the exploration and exploitation of mining and natural resources. She also has extensive experience in environmental legislation and sustainability and ESG policies, advising companies from different productive sectors. She holds a law degree with honours from the University of Lima, an LL.M. from Columbia University School of Law and is a professor of the Mining Law Course at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. She was previously an associate and later a partner at Estudio Echecopar associated with Baker & McKenzie International, as well as an international associate at Sidley Austin.

Iván has extensive international and interdisciplinary experience, advising companies on labour matters, compliance, internal investigations, immigration, litigation, anti-discrimination policies, personal data protection and privacy, among others. He holds a law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú with an outstanding mention and the prize for the best thesis in labour law, and a Master of Professional Studies, Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University. Previously, he advised the Ministry of Labour in the elaboration of the ‘Guide of good practices on equality and non-discrimination in access to employment and occupation’, and worked as in-house lawyer at CB&I, as international visiting lawyer at Dechert LLP in New York, and as special counsel and senior associate, respectively, at the firms Posse Herrera Ruiz and Rodrigo Elias & Medrano.
