Dentons assists in Banco Popular acquisition
Dentons Cárdenas & Cárdenas has assisted Nederlandse Financierings-Maatschappij voor Ontwikkelingslanden; Belgische Investeringsmaatschappij voor Ontwikkelingslanden; agRIF Coöperatief, (acting through Incofin Investment Management); and ASN Microkredietpool (acting through triple Jump) in the acquisition of Banco Popular, a microfinance institution in Honduras.
The firm advised the companies, which are mainly international financial institutions, on the handling of the transaction in Colombia.
As a result of this transaction, financial inclusion will be promoted in Honduras, a country where only 40% of the adult population has a bank account or any financial product.
