ECIJA GPA advises Gasgreen on expansion of biogas plant in Quito
ECIJA GPA has advised Gasgreen in the inauguration of a biogas generation plant in Quito. With a total investment of 20 million dollars, the project marks a milestone in Ecuador.
The development of this project involved a strategic alliance with the municipal utility, negotiation of a PPA that includes the definition of a tariff agreed with the Ministry of Energy, a contract with the electricity distribution company, and, additionally, the negotiation of an investment contract with the Ecuadorian State.
The plant, located at the El Inga landfill, will generate nine megawatts, enough to light more than 40,000 homes.
In addition, this plant, operated by a Spanish business group, managed to increase its capacity to generate electricity from waste, consolidating itself as a pioneering renewable energy project in the country.
Based on the analysis of the environmental regulations, the registration process before the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the UN Climate Change was carried out and it will be a key player in the reduction of polluting emissions in the region.
