Ferrere advises IDB Invest on Central Railway financing
Ferrere, through its team in Uruguay, has advised IDB Invest on the financing for the Línea Ferrocarril Central project in Uruguay. The financing consisted of a $250 million USD senior credit facility through a fixed-rate B bond, the largest structured by IDB Invest to date.
The proceeds will be used to refinance the rail project’s existing debt, improving the overall financing terms and conditions of the project.
The financing complements an earlier financing provided by IDB Invest in 2019 for a $300 million USD loan for the construction and maintenance of 273 km of rail track between Montevideo and Paso de Los Toros.
The Línea Ferrocarril Central railway line aims to improve connectivity between Montevideo and the interior regions of Uruguay.
