Ferrere advises on construction of female rehabilitation centre
Ferrere, through its team in Uruguay, has advised Unidad Punta de Rieles and UPR Femenina on the extension of a public-private partnership (PPP), which involves the construction of a new women’s rehabilitation centre at Unidad Punta de Rieles.
The purpose of the extension is the construction of the unit and subsequent administration of the new centre, which will initially have 816 places for women prisoners, with the possibility of expanding to 1,015. Various rehabilitation and reintegration areas such as socio-labour spaces, educational workshops, a multi-sports area and other facilities that will take into account the gender perspective in their operation will operate under the auspices of this centre.
This expansion, which will involve an investment of approximately USD $50 million, is part of the public-private partnership (PPP) project ‘Unidad PPL N°1’, and will be jointly managed by the special purpose vehicles (SPV) UPR Femenina and Unidad Punta de Rieles. Both SPVs are owned by a subsidiary of Andean Social Infrastructure Fund 1 LP, a leading social and economic infrastructure investment fund.
Ferrere’s team was led by partner Sebastián Ramos (pictured), and comprised of professionals Lucía Olloniego and Andrés Buero.
