Ferrere promotes Miguel Saguier to partner

Ferrere has announced the promotion of Miguel Saguier Abente (pictured) as a new regional partner, effective 1 January 2023, strengthening its Dispute Resolution team, with a particular focus on commercial, civil and contentious administrative disputes.

Agustin Mayer West, regional managing partner, noted: “It is a great joy to add Miguel Saguier to the firm’s team of partners. He has performed extraordinarily well and is a true reflection of the fact that, with effort and merit, one can go very far, as Ferrere’s values and pillars demonstrate”. For his part, the firm’s managing partner in Paraguay, Nestor Loizaga, said that “we are proud to see Miguel’s growth in the more than seven years he has been with the firm, being a key figure in the Dispute Resolution team, but also contributing a lot from a human point of view, to become a reference for the younger members of the team”.

Miguel joined Ferrere in 2021 as part of the Litigation department and specialises in commercial, civil and administrative disputes. Prior to joining Ferrere, he worked for ten years in the Judiciary (2005-2015) in the Civil and Commercial Courts of First Instance of Asunción, where he worked for more than three years as a court clerk. He also served in the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice.

Since joining the firm, his practice is focused on civil, commercial and administrative litigation where he represents both companies (national and foreign) and individuals operating in different fields of activity.

He usually participates in highly complex cases related to commercial distribution contracts, as well as debt collection, foreclosure of mortgages and pledges, indemnities, creditor summons and bankruptcy.

With this appointment, Ferrere now has 32 regional partners.
