First arbitration boutique with social goals launched in Central America

A new boutique law firm launched in Costa Rica on April 2017, combining social entrepreneurship with legal services in the arbitration and litigation sectors.

The firm, HDuarte-Lex, was founded by Herman Duarte, a former associate at Batalla Salto Luna in San Jose, Costa Rica. He is qualified to practice both in El Salvador and Costa Rica and his expertise includes complex litigation and arbitration. Duarte graduated in Law from Escuela Superior de Economía y Negocios in El Salvador and has a LLM in International Commercial Arbitration from the University of Stockholm, Sweden.

Besides its specialised legal services, HDuarte-Lex will also power and finance igualitos.as, the equal rights movement in El Salvador that fights impunity with inclusion, using the tools of litigation, public opinion and debate. Igualitos.as was founded by Duarte in December 2016 and has presented legal actions to defend and support equal rights for LGBTI people at the Inter American Human Rights Court and at a constitutional level in El Salvador.
