GC represents Grupo Alfar in C&A acquisition
Gonzalez Calvillo has represented Mexico’s Grupo Alfar in the multi-million dollar acquisition of C&A’s Mexican operations from COFRA Holding AG.
The C&A business includes a strategic alliance with Bradesco, which enables the issuance of consumer loans and credit cards.
The advisory involved the negotiation and execution of a financing facility for the acquisition by a syndicate of 3 leading banks in Mexico. GC also assisted in obtaining favourable and unconditional approval from the Mexican Federal Competition Commission.
Grupo Alfar de Mexico, owner of more than 250 retail clothing and apparel shops, including Cuidado con el Perro, Malayerba Optima and Almacenes Garcia.
C&A owns and operates 80 retail shops in Mexico, most of them located in shopping centres throughout the country, including Baja California, Puebla and the State of Mexico.
