Gómez-Pinzón counsels CRRC and Mota-Engil on Light Railway concession in Medellín
Gómez-Pinzón has counselled CRRC (Hong Kong) and Mota-Engil Engenharia E Construcao in the adjudication, by the public transport company Metro de Medellín, of the EPC contract for the commissioning of the Metro Ligero (Light Railway) of the 80th Street in the city of Medellín.
The contract also included the studies, construction guarantee, design, installation, supply, testing and commissioning of the rolling stock and railway systems for the project.
This second line of the Medellín Metro consists of 13km, 17 stations and 20 trains. The construction works are expected to last 5 years and start operations in 2028. The awarded contract is worth approximately USD $438 million.
This transaction marks the first time that CRRC and Mota-Engil have been directly awarded a joint railway project in Colombia.
The consultancy involved the structuring of the bidding process and execution of the project, preparation of the documents and participation in the corresponding negotiations, as well as the review and comments to the terms of reference, coordination of the bid between the different jurisdictions and comments, and attention to requests for information and clarifications from Metro de Medellín, in order for the bid to be admitted and the clients assigned the project.
