Grupo Evans appoints new partner

Grupo Evans has announced the appointment of Rafael Fernández Mebus (pictured) as a new partner of the firm. He joined the firm as an associate in 2014 and has been head of the concessions practice since 2021.

Rafael has extensive experience in regulatory matters, advising on the development of electricity projects of all types, as well as on water, indigenous law, environmental law and, in general, regulatory and natural resources matters. He also has extensive experience in administrative procedures for obtaining electricity concessions, as well as in the negotiation of land use contracts for the installation of electricity projects.

Fernández holds a law degree from the Universidad de Chile and a diploma in Urban and Construction Law from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso.

One of the main focuses of his new management will be to support Evans Group’s clients by providing comprehensive advice on the multiple aspects of the electricity generation, transmission and distribution industry, especially on regulatory issues, support in project design strategy, processing of electricity concessions, as well as on strategic land issues, water rights, desalination, aqueducts, environmental issues, community relations, and compliance, among others.
