H&K Mexico adds 7 new partners

Holland & Knight has announced the addition of 17 lawyers from Mexican law firm Sánchez DeVanny, including seven new partners, two senior counsel and eight associates who join the firm’s Mexico City and Monterrey offices.

The lawyers focus primarily in the areas of corporate, international trade, labour, social security, tax, compliance, FCPA and environmental law, ESG and represent numerous clients involved in Mexico’s industrial sector.

Partners Gerardo Prado Hernández, Francisco Andrés Gámez Garza, Humberto Morales Barrón, José Ricardo Ibarra Córdova, Jaime Israel Moreno Treviño and Oscar Alejandro Quiroz Chávez and Senior Counsel Rogelio Azcárraga Ibargüengoitia have joined in Monterrey, along with six associates. Partner Turenna Ramírez Ortiz and senior counsel Claudia Georgina García-González have joined the Mexico City office, along with two associates.

Gerardo Prado Hernández (pictured top left) regularly advises local and international clients on corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, renewable energy and general regulatory compliance. He was previously co-managing director and managing partner of Sánchez DeVanny.

Humberto Morales Barrón (pictured top centre, left) is the former head of Sánchez Devanny’s Corporate Governance and Compliance practice group. Prior to joining said firm, he worked at General Electric for more than a decade, most recently as its general counsel for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

Turenna Ramirez Ortiz (pictured top centre, right) was the leader of Sánchez Devanny’s Mexico City office and head of its International Trade and Customs group.

Francisco Andrés Gámez Garza (pictured top right) is a transactional lawyer with extensive experience advising clients on corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, general financing, joint ventures, business structuring, divestitures, sales, spinoffs, soft-landing and general corporate transactions.

José Ricardo Ibarra Córdova (pictured bottom left) is a tax lawyer who focuses on tax consulting and litigation, including domestic and international tax matters.

Jaime Israel Moreno Treviño (pictured bottom centre) practices in the areas of corporate and mergers and acquisitions. He has advised several clients in the development of their activities and projects in various industrial sectors such as automotive, industrial real estate transactions, food chemicals, banking and finance.

Oscar Alejandro Quiroz Chávez (pictured bottom right) advises Mexican and non-Mexican companies on their incorporation and corporate operations in Mexico, corporate restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, public bidding procedures, commercial contracts and corporate law.

With these new additions, Holland & Knight now has 62 lawyers based in Mexico. In 2021, H&K welcomed 13 new lawyers and added a new office in Monterrey as a result of the firm’s combination with Thompson & Knight. In February, the firm celebrated the tenth anniversary of its Mexico City office.
