JDF promotes new Disputes partner
Jara del Favero has announced the promotion of Ramón Jara Contreras (pictured) as a new partner of the firm to lead the Dispute Resolution practice.
Ramón has more than 10 years of experience providing civil and commercial advice, contract dispute management and resolution, foreign investment protection, tax and environmental litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution. He advises and represents clients from different sectors such as natural resources, infrastructure, construction, energy, retail, aquaculture, finance, among others. Between 2019 and 2020 he worked at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in London.
A lawyer from Universidad de los Andes, he holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Dispute Resolution from Queen Mary University of London; and a Diploma in New Trends in Contracts and Damages from Universidad Católica de Chile.
With this appointment, Ramón becomes the fourth generation of his family to assume this position. It was started by his great-grandfather Manuel Jara Cristi, who founded the firm in 1916, followed by his grandfather Ramón Jara Mujica and then his father Ramón Jara Araya, who currently practices as a consultant.
