Machado Meyer announces eight new partners

Machado Meyer Advogados announced the arrival of eight new partners. The new functions, which are effective as of January 2023, include (pictured top line from left to right): Alessandra Takara, Luiz Eduardo Miranda Rosa, Luís Filipe Gentil e Alessandra Carolina Rossi and (pictured bottom line from left to right): Antonio Kubli Vieira, Luiz Antonio Franco, Bruna Miguel e José Alexandre Ferreira Sanches. Lawyers were promoted as a continuation of the strategy of the Litigation, Corporate, Tax, Labor, Infrastructure and Energy teams.

Now the Corporate practice group has two new partners. Alessandra Takara joins the team as a specialist in merger and acquisition transactions, including those involving isolated production units in judicial reorganization proceedings, and private equity, in addition to structured finance transactions, debt restructuring, and negotiation of credit portfolios. Luís Filipe Gentil is a specialist in project finance, structured transactions, debt restructuring, capital markets, and mergers and acquisitions. He advises investors, financial institutions, multilateral organizations, investment funds, borrowers, shareholders, sponsors, and other participants in such transactions, whether Brazilian or foreign.

In the Tax practice, two other lawyers will also join the team of partners. Bruna Miguel works with an emphasis on litigation, sponsoring judicial and administrative disputes related to direct and indirect taxes and social security contributions. She has experience in the industrial, retail, customs, research and development (R&D), cosmetics, and service industries. Luiz Eduardo Miranda Rosa works with direct taxes, focusing on the preparation of legal opinions and analysis of tax issues in the most diverse types of corporate and operational arrangements. In addition, he practices in the defense and conduct of administrative tax proceedings, in general. His experience is focused on the mining, financial, electronic, energy, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries.

In Litigation, José Alexandre Ferreira Sanches, a specialist who has been working in the practice for 19 years, was promoted to new partner. In his trajectory in litigation, in the area of Public Law, administrative and judicial defenses for concessionaires of public works and services, companies in the automobile, pharmaceutical, financial, and civil construction industries stand out. In the Private Law area, in addition to legal advice to private law foundations, the firm handles arbitration and compensation suits, civil liability suits, and lawsuits related to contractual obligations.

In the Labor practice, Luiz Antonio Franco joins the partner team as a specialist in strategic litigation and collective labor law, with an outstanding performance in complex cases of great relevance, participating in hearings, preparing pleadings, and appeals. Much of his work involves handling strategic proceedings, analyzing cases, and proposing solutions. He has experience in various industries, such as construction companies, financial and banking institutions, food and beverage, automotive, energy, the chemical industry, services, and retail.

Finally, in Infrastructure and Energy, Antonio Kubli Vieira arrives to reinforce the team as a specialist in mergers and acquisitions, private investments in regulated sectors, project financing and development, and construction and operation contracts. This new partner advises clients on structuring, negotiating, and formalizing deals and in corporate, contractual, and regulatory matters. In addition, he has experience with operations and projects in various sectors, including ports, transportation, logistics, energy, pulp and paper, sanitation, telecommunications, and oil and gas.

Finally, the recently hired Alessandra Carolina Rossi Martins, who has worked for over 12 years in the corporate and banking areas with a focus on banking regulations, foreign exchange, payments, and Fintechs, will work in the Banking practice group of the firm. Her practice also includes corporate issues in general and issues related to technology and innovation, including the structuring of joint ventures, partnerships, investment structures, and domestic and foreign financing for startups (including Venture Capital), M&A, capital markets, and project finance.
