Masisa instructs Carey and Pinheiro Neto on subsidiary sale

Carey advised Masisa on the Chilean aspects of the sale of its subsidiary in Brazil. Pinheiro Neto acted as Brazilian counsel to the company.

Masisa is a wood products manufactured headquartered in Chile with operations in Argentina, Peru, Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico and the United States.

With this deal, valued at $103 million and still subject to regulatory approval, the company is selling its Brazilian subsidiary Masisa do Brasil to Arauco do Brasil, the Brazilian arm of Celulosa Arauco y Constitución, a Chilean company in the same sector.

Partner Francisco Ugarte led the Carey team advising Masisa, which also retained Pinheiro Neto for Brazilian law.

Arauco instructed Mattos Filho, Veiga Filho, Marrey Jr. e Quiroga Advogados in Brazil.
