Mattos Filho advises Serra Verde on a USD 565 million financing

Mattos Filho advised Grupo Serra Verde on a US$ 565,000,000.00 financing facility provided by the United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).

The proceeds will be destined to the development, expansion, and operation of the Serra Verde Project, including the optimization, modernization, and expansion of the rare earth mining and processing facilities located in Minaçu, State of Goiás, as well as the prepayment of existing indebtedness.

The transaction was secured by guarantees governed by Brazilian law. The financing represents a significant milestone in Brazil’s efforts to support supply chain resilience and the future growth of critical downstream industries. The project’s exploration area has a high concentration of dysprosium and terbium (critical minerals), as well as other essential rare earth elements, which are key components for the development of high-tech products used in the automotive, medical, renewable energy, electronics, robotics, defense and aerospace sectors.

Mattos Filho represented Serra Verde Pesquisa e Mineração and SVRE Holdings and relied on partners Bernardo Môcho (pictured left), Adriano Drummond Cançado Trindade (pictured center) and Pablo Sorj (pictured right), associate José Guilherme do Nascimento Malheiro, Luís Felipe Oliveira Haddad and João Pedro Tavares de Mendonça.
