Mattos Filho launches new Venture Capital practice

Mattos Filho Advogados has launched a new Venture Capital practice focused on the entrepreneurial ecosystem to develop and promote business in the market that hit record investments in Brazil.

With a multidisciplinary team, composed of experts from different areas of practice, Mattos Filho launches the Venture Capital practice, using the expertise it already applies in the most relevant transactions in the country, to develop and drive innovative businesses. According to the Association for Private Capital Investment in Latin America (LAVCA), Brazil has the largest Venture Capital market in Latin America, which indicates the importance of long-term capital in the process of acceleration and technological innovation of companies.

In ample growth, Venture Capital surpassed, for the first time, investments in Private Equity in Brazil, with a record of R$ 46.5 billion, last year, according to a survey by the Brazilian Association of Private Equity and Venture Capital (ABVCAP), in partnership with KPMG.

“The firm already has extensive expertise in several practices adherent to the Venture Capital industry. This launch will add even more excellence to our client service platform, reinforcing our creative spirit, which understands the importance of entrepreneurship for the social and economic development of the country,” says Roberto Quiroga (pictured), managing partner of Mattos Filho.

Strategic Partnership
Mattos Filho’s Venture Capital practice will operate in several early and growth stage operations, including the formation of strategic partnerships and investment rounds, always anticipating legal issues with innovative solutions for investors, startups and other agents of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The area will also offer advice to companies from different sectors and industries in their corporate venturing projects, including the structuring of innovation hubs, acceleration programs and investment vehicles in startups, helping companies to form partnerships and joint ventures.
