Miller Canfield and Arizpe, Valdés & Marcos announce Mexico affiliation

US law firm Miller Canfield and Mexico law firm Arizpe, Valdés & Marcos have announced a formal affiliation.

 

Miller Canfield first opened an office in Monterrey in 2009, a firm statement said the link-up with Arizpe, Valdés & Marcos – based in Monterrey – would “add over 15 lawyers in Mexico”.

The statement added: “Automotive and manufacturing companies are rapidly expanding their base of operations between the two countries, as Mexico is among the world’s most vibrant developing economies for foreign direct investment, especially from the U.S., Canada, China, Japan, Korea, Germany and other European companies.”

Under their terms of the affiliation agreement, each firm will coordinate on the provision of legal advice and services, as well as sharing office space and IT systems.

In addition, each of the five partners of Arizpe, Valdés & Marcos have become of counsel to Miller Canfield:  Eduardo Arizpe, Miguel Valdés, Carlos Marcos, Arnulfo Treviño and Hector González.

Michael McGee, Miller Canfield’s CEO, said: “We needed to enlarge our capabilities in Mexico simply to keep up with demand – Mexico is a strategically vital market for our clients, especially those in automotive manufacturing, and because our firm is in a unique position to serve our clients in Mexico, we capitalised on this opportunity.”
