PPU adds former Chilean ambassador to China

Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría has announced the addition of Luis Schmidt-Montes (pictured), former Chilean Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, to lead the Ibero-American firm’s international strategy in the Asian market.

Commenting on the appointment, Andrés Sanfuentes, partner and director of the firm in Chile, stated: “This significant addition to our team strengthens our leadership position as regards the firm’s international strategy, and builds on the Asian Desk, an initiative that is led and coordinated by partners at a regional level (Juan Paulo Bambach – Chile; Nicolás Tirado – Colombia, Ronald Fernández Dávila – Peru) […] The Asian market is of the utmost importance for PPU, and it constitutes a strategic objective in the face of current projects and future ones that shall be developed in the countries where PPU is present.”

Luis is a civil engineer from the Catholic University of Chile, and has worked as an entrepreneur, business leader and ambassador. He was the president of the Chilean fruit trade federation Fedefruta between 1997 and 2006, and the Chilean National Agriculture Society -SNA- between 2005 and 2009, the latter being the oldest business organisation in the country.
