PPU represents Resource Capital Funds in jv for development of El Espino copper mine
Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría has represented Resource Capital Funds in the formation, through the El Espino Investment Fund, of a joint venture with Sociedad Punta del Cobre for the development of the El Espino copper mining project in the Coquimbo Region.
This transaction, closed on 24 April, involved the jurisdictions of Chile and Canada (Ontario). Other participating firms were Blakes, as advisor to Resource Capital Funds in Canada; Larrain y Asociados as Chilean advisor to Sociedad Punta del Cobre; and Norton Rose Fullbright, as Canadian advisor to Sociedad Punta del Cobre.
The project has an initial investment of US$380 million, and will involve an investment of approximately US$840 million, considering equity and debt.
PPU’s team was led by partners Juan Paulo Bambach (pictured left) and Guillermo Infante (pictured right), assisted by associates Felipe Ossa and María Jesús Ibañez.
