Tauil & Chequer advises Aegea in the privatization of Corsan

Tauil & Chequer Advogados associated with Mayer Brown advised Aegea in the privatization of Companhia Riograndense de Saneamento (Corsan), a mixed capital company of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, responsible for the water and sewage services in the Rio Grande do Sul municipalities.

The transaction was worth about R$4.1 billion.

The team’s work included advising Aegea in all phases of the auction, including conducting legal due diligence on Corsan and preparing the documents for participation in the auction.

Originally, the project was to be carried out through a primary public offering on the stock exchange. However, due to the complexity of the model, the State of Rio Grande do Sul opted to sell the shares in a “closed-door” operation, which required multidisciplinary work from the firm.

Tauil & Chequer Advogados associated with Mayer Brown relied on partner Bruno Werneck (pictured) and included the participation of associates Juliana Deguirmendjian and Maria Cristina Oliveira, from the Infrastructure and Public Law area, and Maria Isabel Amato, Sarah Ferreira, Grazielle Pereira, from the Corporate and M&A area.

Souto Correa also advised Aegea and relied on partners Carlos Souto, Gustavo Kaercher, and Fabiana Figueiró and lawyers Eden José, Rafaella Guzella, Fabio Baldissera and Felipe Lobo and Mariana Níquel.
