2016 closed with the news that DLA Piper launched in Chile and Dentons started the new year with a second office in Mexico as Latin America remains attractive to international clients and their mega law firms. 

In other news, PPU advised in several landmark deals in Colombia, including the sale of Panettiere to Bimbo, the acquisition of 49% of Viva Malls by a Bancolombia-controlled fund and Grupo Argos´s takeover of ODINSA, the infrastructure company.

In Peru, Estudio Rodrigo appointed a new partner in their natural resources group and Miranda and Amado advised Great Panther on its acquisition of a mining complex. 

Simpson Thacher acted for the buyers of Vale´s fertiliser assets in Brazil while Machado Meyer brokered a $2.2 billion strategic alliance between their client Petrobras and French energy company Total.
