Basham assists Grupo Carso in acquisition of 50% stake in Talos Mexico

Basham Ringe y Correa has assisted Grupo Carso (Carso) in the acquisition of a 49.9% interest in Talos Mexico, a subsidiary of Talos Energy (Talos), which owns a 17.4% interest in the Company’s Zama Field, for an estimated purchase price of USD $124.75 million.

The closing of the transaction is subject to the approval of the Mexican Federal Economic Competition Commission (COFECE). Mayer Brown acted as advisor to Talos in the US.

This investment marks Carso’s first foray into hydrocarbon exploration and extraction activities in Mexico.

Carlos Facha and Deborah Huston acted as in-house counsel to Carso and Talos, respectively.

Mayer Brown’s team included José L. Valera and Federica Castro.

Basham’s team comprised partner Juan Carlos Serra Campillo (pictured) and associates Pablo Nosti Herrera, Fernando Morayta Guerrero, Carolina Nogal Gomez and Fernando Osante Kretchmar.
