Brazilian firms act in JV to construction of Mendubim

Machado Meyer represented Scatec and Equinor ASA in the structuring of a joint venture with Norsk Hydro wich was represented by Mattos Filho and Alunorte – Alumina do Norte do Brasil, represented by Veirano Advogados.

The joint venture is for construction and operation of Solar Complex Mendubim, with an aggregate installed capacity of 531 MW, including the preparation and negotiation of all equity and project related contracts.

A relevant portion of the power to be generated the power plants will be sold to Alunorte under a US dollar denominated power purchase agreement (PPA).

The transaction involves one of the first power projects with US dollar PPA structured under the legal basis set forth by Law 14,286 and with a relevant portion of the power to be supplied under self-production regime. The US dollar PPA signed with Alunorte will supply 84 MWmédios from 2025 to 2044.

The total amount was R$ 2.304.800.000,00.
