BU and ARIFA in $330m financing to INICIA
Brigard Urrutia and Arias Fábrega & Fábrega have advised a consortium of lenders, in Colombia and Panama respectively, on a USD $330m financing to INICIA, a Santo Domingo-based asset management fund.
This financial injection is for INICIA’s strategic acquisition of stakes in Diaco, a Colombian recycling group, and Gerdau Metaldom, a Dominican steel manufacturer. INICIA was joined by its construction materials sector-focused management company, Atria Advisors, consolidating its presence in the Latin American steel industry.
The consortium of lenders was composed of Citi and Scotiabank, as joint bookrunners & lead arrangers, Banco Popular Dominicano, as senior mandated lead arranger, and Banco Latinoamericano de Comercio Exterior (Bladex), as mandated lead arranger.
BU’s team was led by partner Cesar Felipe Rodriguez Parra (pictured right), with support from Tomás Holguín, Andres Hernandez, Cristina Román, and associates Santiago Jaramillo Martinez, Veronica Umaña Obregon and Jorge Pablo Velasco Borda, among other members of the firm.
ARIFA’s team included partner Estif Aparicio (pictured left), international associate Isabella de la Guardia, and associate Daniela A. Delvalle.
