Chevez Ruiz Zamarripa promotes 7 new partners

Chevez Ruiz Zamarripa has announced the promotion of seven new partners, effective 1 January 2023: Aline Espinosa and Anthar González in the Tax practice, Marco Antonio de la Fuente in the Wealth practice, Diego Marván in the Prevention and Money Laundering and Litigation practice and Gloria Niembro in the Intellectual Property practice in the Mexico City office; Miguel Ángel Cantú in the Labour practice in the Monterrey office; and Juan Soto in the Labour practice in the Mexico City and Querétaro offices.

Aline Espinosa (pictured left) joined the firm in 2005. She has 17 years of experience in the tax area advising mainly corporations with operations in Mexico and abroad, specifically in corporate restructurings, M&A and debt and equity placements. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Accounting from Universidad La Salle and a Master’s degree in Tax Law from Universidad Panamericana.

Anthar González (pictured centre, left) joined the firm in 2008 and since 2022 he has been a director in the Tax Consulting area. He holds a degree in Public Accounting and Financial Strategy from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), a Master’s degree in Tax Law from the Universidad Panamericana and a Diploma in Corporate Consultancy from ITAM.

Marco Antonio de la Fuente (pictured centre) has been with the firm since 2009, where he has focused his practice on tax and wealth matters for individuals and family offices. He holds a degree in Public Accounting and Finance from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM).

Diego Marván joined the firm in 2002. His practice focuses on tax litigation and he has specialised in anti-money laundering, anti-corruption and corporate compliance and integrity. He holds a law degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana, a master’s degree in tax law from the Universidad Panamericana, and a master’s degree in Ibero-American anti-corruption policies from the Universidad de Salamanca.

Gloria Niembro (pictured centre, right) joined the firm as a director in the Intellectual Property practice in 2020. She has more than ten years of experience in intellectual property law, including preventive protection measures, as well as coordination of negotiations and proceedings. Prior to joining the firm, she was an associate at Basham Ringe y Correa and Ladas & Parry (New York). She holds a law degree from ITAM and an LL.M. in Intellectual Property from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.

Miguel Ángel Cantú joined the firm in 2020. His main focus is in the labor and social security area, including advising on individual and collective labor relations issues. He previously worked as a labour associate at Santamarina y Steta. He holds a law degree from the Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM), a master’s degree in labour law from the Universidad Regiomontana and the Escuela Libre de Derecho.

Juan Soto (pictured right) joined the firm in 202. He focuses his practice on corporate labour law, including individual and collective labour litigation. He previously worked as an associate at Natividad Abogados, as a senior associate at Santamarina y Steta and at Gonzalez Calvillo, as well as a partner at Arias Lazo y Soto Arias. He holds a law degree and a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies from the Universidad de las Américas, with postgraduate studies at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and the Escuela Libre de Derecho.

With these appointments, the firm has a total of 63 partners in its 6 different offices (Mexico City, Monterrey, Querétaro, New York, Houston and Madrid).
