Echecopar counsels Rabobank on $92m loan

Estudio Echecopar, associated with Baker & McKenzie International, has counselled Coöperatieve Rabobank on a syndicated loan granted jointly with Banco Santander Peru and Banco Interamericano de Finanzas in favour of Complejo Agroindustrial Beta in the amount of $92 million US dollars.

The funds will be used to prepay existing financing provided by the same lenders to Complejo Agroindustrial Beta, to acquire land in Olmos as part of the company’s growth plan, and for capital expenditures.

The financing included five ESG indicators, where Complejo Agroindustrial Beta commits to: measure and reduce its carbon footprint; develop a conservation area protection plan for 100 hectares for nature conservation and local biodiversity; improve gender equity and promote female leadership at all levels of management; reduce the accident frequency rate by implementing safe work standards and procedures; and professionalise its sustainability reporting.

This transaction results in the first sustainable credit with gender components executed by Rabobank in Peru.
