Ferrere counsels Brookfield on sale of 3 power generation plants

Ferrere, through its team in Uruguay, has counselled Brookfield Renewable Partners, a Canadian renewable energy company, on the sale of three renewable energy generation plants in Uruguay, equivalent to 121 MW of capacity.

The transaction included the 95 MW Carapé I and Carapé II wind farms in Maldonado and the 26 MW Alto Cielo solar photovoltaic power plant in Artigas. All three projects had power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the state-owned utility UTE for a combined capacity of 110 MW.

Thanks to this transaction, the buyer, Cubico Sustainable Investments, expands its operations in Uruguay to 320 MW of installed capacity, in a sector that has experienced pronounced growth in recent decades in the country as a result of the project to transform its energy matrix to renewable sources.

Ferrere’s team was led by Manuel Lecuona (pictured), with support from lawyers Enrique Slekis, Alejandro Alterwain, Lucia Lingeri and Ignacio Uria Tornquist.
