Gaia Silva Gaede Advogados opens office in Madrid

Gaia Silva Gaede Advogados (GSGA), a Brazilian firm with more than 300 professionals, has opened a new office in Madrid, at 44, Dr. Castelo Street, under the direction of partner Marcos Catao, as part of its internationalization project.

The firm intends to reinforce the support offered to its clients in their commercial activities between Brazil and Spain, especially to foreign multinationals, Brazilian multinationals in the process of expansion and Brazilian companies seeking to internationalize. Or even Spanish companies seeking to enter the Brazilian market.

“We are here to work together with local and European law firms. We are confident that this project will open many doors for both Spanish and European companies and their law firms interested in doing business in Brazil, taking advantage of mutual growth and investment opportunities. The opening of this representative office is a milestone in our internationalization project”, reinforces Marcos Catao.

“We are taking an important step towards our vision of being a global legal partner and having Marcos Catao’s expertise in Spain is certainly a great asset,” explains Enio Zaha, founding partner of GSGA.

The new headquarters will help Brazilian companies evaluate the Spanish and European markets. “In the last five years we have seen Brazilian multinationals such as Votorantin, JBS, BTG Pactual, CSN and Queiroz Galvao establish European headquarters in Spain,” says Catao.

In addition, the GSGA office will focus on representing middle-market companies on both sides of the Atlantic. Thus, the representative office will advise Latin American companies, among others, on IPOs and IPOs in the so-called alternative markets. According to Catao, “stock exchanges such as those in Madrid, Lisbon and London represent a great opportunity to raise funds for small and mid-cap Latin American companies”.

Marcos Catao is a specialist in international and tax law, in addition to having assumed the Presidency of IFA Latam (Latin American section of the International Fiscal Association).

Gaia Silva Gaede Advogados Madrid will thus establish a close collaboration with local law firms, financial institutions, chambers of commerce, development agencies and the local diplomatic service, with the aim of providing specialized services to both Spanish companies interested in investing in Brazil and Brazilian companies seeking to expand their presence in the European market.
