Garrigues bulks up M&A team in Bogotá

Garrigues announced that Andrés Ordóñez has joined its Bogotá office as counsel in the M&A practice group. 

Andrés Ordóñez graduated in law from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, and holds a degree in commercial law from Universidad de los Andes and an LLM in securities and financial regulation from Georgetown University. He is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and in Colombia.

Ordóñez has over sixteen years of experience advising Latin American and multinational companies in cross-border M&A, private equity deals and capital markets transacions across the region.

Prior to joining Garrigues he was an associate at Willkie Farr & Gallagher in New York. His career also includes an earlier, in-house counsel role at the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce. After that, he joined Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer in NY as international associate, from 2007 to 2011. Ordóñez also worked at Gómez-Pinzón Zuleta in Colombia from 2011 to 2015.

On the announcement, Javier Ybáñez, partner in charge of Garrigues’ Latin American practice, remarked: “Andrés has impeccable experience in the industry; we are sure he will make a major contribution to the mergers and acquisitions practice and to our current and potential clients in Colombia and throughout Latin America”.
