Garrigues expands team in Chile

Garrigues announced four new hires in Chile: Pedro García Morales, Mónica Van der Schraft Greve, José Domingo Peñafiel Zañartu and Eduardo Díez Rojas. 

Van der Schraft Greve is Garrigues´ first female partner in Latin America and joins the litigation and arbitration practice. Her career includes partner roles at Cariola Diez Pérez-Cotapos and Estudio Etcheberry. She is also a member of the Ethics Committee of the Chilean Bar Association and a director of the Chilean Chapter of the Spanish Arbitration Club.

García Morales will head the office’s the newly created financial practice and joins from Morales & Besa. His expertise includes banking, capital markets, projects and energy.

Peñafiel Zañartu joins the tax practice in Chile as principal associate. He has worked for the Chilean Ministry of Finance and practiced at law firms such as Claro, Avendaño Merino, and Echeverría, Ilharreborde & Peñafiel.

Prior to joining Garrigues´ corporate and M&A practice group, Díez Rojas was General Counsel at GNL Mejillones. He also worked as legal counsel at Bechtel Chile and senior associate at Claro y Cía.
