Pérez-Llorca advises BiBank on $32.5m restructuring

Pérez-Llorca México advised BiBank (Banco Industrial), as lender, in the restructuring, extension, and amendment of two existing credit facilities granted to Grupo Agronegocios Sustentables del Trópico, Aceites Sustentables de Palma, and Palmas de Comillas, acting as borrowers and joint obligors, for a total amount of USD 32.5 million.

The transaction also involved the execution of a reaffirmation agreement over a security trust holding 42 real estate assets, with Banco Invex acting as trustee.

The deal required complex multijurisdictional coordination between entities based in Mexico and Guatemala, reflecting the cross-border nature of the agribusiness group’s operations. BiBank and the borrower group were advised by their respective in-house legal teams.

Pérez-Llorca México’s Banking & Finance team advising on the transaction was led by partner Bernardo Reyes Retana (pictured), supported by associate Valeria Camacho and law clerk Regina Gutiérrez. BiBank and the borrower group were advised by their respective in-house legal teams.
