Rodrigo, Elías hires energy team from Muñiz, Ramírez
Peruvian law firm Rodrigo, Elías & Medrano Abogados announced the arrival of Jorge Pérez-Taiman and a team of lawyers specialising in oil and gas.
Jorge Pérez-Taiman holds a Masters degree in Comparative Jurisprudence from New York University and has a distinguished career which includes working as Assistant General Counsel at Occidental International Exploration & Production, where he was in charge of the company’s international operations, including negotiation of oil & gas contracts in Egypt, Syria, Albania, Pakistan, Qatar, Argentina, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru. Prior to joining Rodrigo as counsel, he was a name partner at Muñiz, Ramírez, Pérez -Taiman & Olaya Abogados, where he worked for over 20 years.
Also joining Rodrigo is Jenny Caldas who holds a Masters degree in Regulatory Affairs specializing in Energy from Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas. Caldas also hold a Postgraduate degree in Environmental Law from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and is a member of the Environmental Affairs Committee at the National Society of Mining, Oil and Energy.
Pérez-Taiman and Caldas are joining the firm with a team of five associates.
In a statement, Muñiz, Ramírez, Pérez-Taiman & Olaya Abogados announced that partner Augusto Astorga will now lead the firm’s energy department, following the voluntary retirement of Jorge Pérez-Taiman. Partner Ricardo Silva will continue to support the energy practice group at the firm.
