Santos Neto and Mattos Filho advise on ALZ Grãos deal

Santos Neto Advogados has advised ALZ Grãos, a joint venture formed by AMAGGI, Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) and Zen-Noh Grãos, on the acquisition of a soybean crushing unit belonging to Fazendão Agronegócios, which was advised by Mattos Filho.

The facility has the capacity to process 800,000 tons of soybeans per year and is located along the North-South Railway, integrated into the Northern Arc export corridor in the Matopiba region, an agricultural frontier spanning parts of the Brazilian states of Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia.

The transaction represents ALZ Grãos’ entry into the industrial oilseed processing sector and remains subject to approval by CADE, Brazil’s Administrative Council for Economic Defense.

Santos Neto Advogados’ legal advisory work for ALZ Grãos was led by partner Bruno Salama (pictured left), together with Calvin Kitahara, Bernardo Fontes Wahrsager, Laura Sandrault Scassa and Giovanna Corrêa Bortoncello.
