Shearman & Sterling instructed on Argentina’s $7 billion debt offering

Shearman & Sterling advised the initial purchasers on Argentina´s two part bond issuance. 

BBVA Securities, Citigroup Global Markets, Deutsche Bank Securities, HSBC Securities (USA), JP Morgan Securities and Santander Investment Securities were the initial purchasers in the blockbuster offering of $7 billion of debt securities.

The bonds were issued in two separate tranches of $3.25 billion principal amount of its 5.625% bonds due 2022 and $3.75 billion principal amount of its 6.875% bonds due 2027.

The deal marked the sovereign’s third issuance in US dollars since its 2016 return to international capital markets and signals increased appetite for Latin American bonds.
