Simpson Thacher and Cuatrecasas instructed on Fundación Social acquisition in Colombia
Simpson Thacher and Cuatrecasas Goncalves Pereira have advised Fundación Social, a Colombian non-profit foundation, on the acquisition of an 18.45% interest in Banco Caja Social from JP Morgan.
Banco Caja Social is a Colombian bank that focused primarily on Colombia’s low and middle-income population segments and micro, small and medium size businesses. The deal, subject to regulatory approval, will give Fundación Social ownership of 90% stock of Banco Caja Social.
Fundación Social instructed a team led by partner Juan Francisco Mendez at Simpson Thacher. Cuatrecasas Goncalves Pereira acted as Spanish counsel to the foundation, with New York-based partners Elena Cuatrecasas and Iñigo Aguirrezabala at the helm of the team.
JP Morgan retained Cárdenas y Cárdenas in Colombia and Pérez-Llorca in Spain for this deal.
